Terms of Use

Last updated: October 2026.

Canvas Grade Calculator is provided free of charge, "as is," for informational and educational use. By using this site you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the tools.

What this site provides

This site offers a set of free, browser-based calculators for working out course grades, GPAs, and conversions between grading scales. Every calculation runs locally in your own browser. There is no account to create, nothing to install, and no payment at any point.

The tools are built for students and instructors who want to understand a number before a grade is final — what a score works out to, what a curve would do, or what is still needed on a final exam. They are planning aids, not record-keeping systems.

Estimates, not official grades

The grades this tool produces are estimates based on the scores and weights you enter. They are not official grades. Your school's gradebook is the authoritative source. Always confirm important decisions with your instructor.

Accuracy depends entirely on the accuracy of what you enter. Grading schemes differ between institutions, departments, and individual instructors: some drop a lowest score, some round differently, some weight categories in ways a syllabus does not spell out clearly. Where a conversion has no single standard method — converting a CGPA to a 4.0 GPA, for instance — our tools show which method was used and say plainly that institutions disagree. Treat every output as an estimate to check, not a figure to submit.

Not affiliated with Canvas

This site is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instructure, Inc. or Canvas LMS. "Canvas" is referenced only to describe the grading system the tool is compatible with. All trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.

Your data stays in your browser

The scores and course details you type are saved in your own browser's local storage so your work is still there when you return. They are not transmitted to us, and we cannot see them. Clearing your browser data removes them permanently, and we have no copy to restore.

The one exception is feedback you choose to send through the feedback widget, which you submit deliberately. See the privacy policy for how that and any analytics or advertising cookies are handled.

Acceptable use

You may use these calculators for personal, academic, and classroom purposes, including as an instructor working out grades for a class. You may link to any page here freely.

You may not scrape the site at a volume that degrades it for others, republish its content as your own, or present its output as an official academic record. Using the tools to misrepresent a grade to a school, an employer, or an admissions office is a misuse of them.

Availability and changes

The site is offered without any guarantee of uptime. Pages, tools, and calculation methods may change as grading conventions change or as we correct mistakes. We may add, alter, or withdraw a tool at any time without notice.

These terms may be updated. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

Limitation of liability

We are not liable for any academic outcome, decision, or loss arising from use of this tool. Use it as a planning aid, not a guarantee. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site and its authors disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including those of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and uninterrupted availability.
